Global Commerce and Culture Panel Discussion

On Thursday, June 6, 2013, a distinguished group of leaders from the global business, civic and cultural communities participated in a panel at Baker & McKenzie’s Chicago office focused on “Global Commerce and Culture: A Powerful Combination.” Jointly hosted by Baker & McKenzie, Chicago Sister Cities International and World Business Chicago, the discussion explored the intersection of international business, arts and culture—in Chicago and around the world.

Steve Koch, Deputy Mayor of the City of Chicago provided opening remarks and Rita R. Athas, past President of World Business Chicago moderated the panel. Panelists included Jose Luis Prado, President, Quaker Foods North America, PepsiCo; Deborah F. Rutter, President, Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association; Samuel C. Scott III, Chairman of Chicago Sisters Cities International and retired President and Chief Executive Officer of Corn Products International (now Ingredion Incorporated); and Alejandro Silva, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Evans Food Group.

Miguel Noyola, Chair of Baker & McKenzie’s North America International Commercial Group, led efforts to organize the program, which kicked off the annual regional meeting of the Firm’s North America International Commercial Group.
