Social Workers Prepare for Birmingham Visit

On Wednesday, August 14, Chicago Sister Cities International and the National Association of Social Workers, Illinois Chapter (NASWIL) hosted an orientation for the 8 social workers from Chicago participating in the 17th Annual Social Work Tri-City Exchange between Chicago, Birmingham and Hamburg.

Birmingham hosts this year and will welcome social workers from Chicago and Hamburg on September 29. A week-long schedule of activities has been planned including a conference with national speakers and a Shining Stars celebration of good practices. The theme of the exchange is managing risk in person centered care.

The orientation was led by CSCI’s Social Services Chair, Kathleen Borland and Viviane Ngwa of NASWIL. Rupert Ward, Chair of the Birmingham Committee and Rolf Achilles, Chair of the Hamburg Committee also participated to share their knowledge to the delegation.
