The Bogota Committee of Chicago Sister Cities International joined forces with the Illinois Office of Trade and Investment in a trade mission to the International Fair of Bogota from September 29 to October 3, 2014. A total of 12 Illinois companies joined them on the trade mission.
Bogota Committee members Ruben Ocampo and Alan Harder represented the Committee on the trade mission. While there, they met with local city government officials in the Bogota Mayor’s Office and Secretary of Education Office to further advance ties between the sister cities of Chicago and Bogota.
Since the implementation of the U.S.-Colombia Free Trade Agreement in 2012, Colombia has become the third largest market for U.S. exports in Latin America. This agreement, combined with Colombia’s rapid economic growth and demand for high-quality U.S.-made goods, has made Colombia a strong market for U.S. companies in different industries.
