Birmingham Delegation Visits Chicago

A delegation from Chicago’s sister city of Birmingham, United Kingdom, visited Chicago from March 16–22 to meet with city officials, organizations and partners to share best practices between the two cities.

During their visit they met with the Birmingham Committee of Chicago Sister Cities International and Chicago Sister Cities International staff; officials at the Office of Mayor Emanuel, Chicago Public Schools and the Department of Family and Support Services; and representatives from the British-American Business Council, DePaul Art Museum, Chicago KICS Cup, Skills for Chicagoland’s Future, and Hanson Park Elementary School.

The delegation included Mike Murray, Lead Officer, International Links, Birmingham City Council; Jo Andrews, Chair, North America Association & Professor, Birmingham City University; Dr. Catherine Staite, Director of Institute of Local Government Studies, University of Birmingham; Stefanie Bowes, Travel Trade Executive, Birmingham Airport; and Jack Kelly, Communications Director, National Express.
