The Hamburg Committee of CSCI is hosting a cheering station for runners at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on Sunday, October 11, 2015, in front of Café Vienna and Catering in Lincoln Park (2523 N. Clark Street; on the east side of Clark between St. James Place and Deming Place; mile nine on the marathon route). The Hamburg cheering station will be located next to the cheering station of the Paris Committee of CSCI.
All are welcome at the cheering station to cheer on and motivate runners. Café Vienna will be serving its breakfast, brunch, and lunch menus. Make sure to wear the colors of the German flag—black, red, and gold!
7-7:45 am: Assembly of cheering station
7:50 am: First runners
10:40 am: Last runners
11 am: Clean-up and removal of cheering station
RSVP is not required to participate, but is appreciated for planning purposes.
The Hamburg Committee cheering station is being organized by Martina Beverly, Hamburg Committee member, business advisor, and consultant. Numerous ways to volunteer and help are available. About 30 guests from Hamburg (runners, families) will need host families that are ideally close to public transportation & the ideal guest room(s) include private bath.
Logistics and Needed Items
- Small, medium, and large flags and flag poles
- Cheering signs and banners
- Uniform t-shirts
- Noise makers
- Stereo-system with loud speakers (ideally waterproofed)
- Step ladders with 2-3 steps
- Duct tape
- Material to create a temporary raised cheering platform
- First aid kit with Band-Aids
