This year, Chicago’s Sullivan High School and Hamburg’s Altona Gymnasium participated in their fourth sister school exchange. Each year, students enjoy the sights and sounds of each other’s cities. Sullivan is the only neighborhood high school in partnership between the two cities. Because of this, the Altona students from Hamburg get to see Chicago through a unique lens.
The Altona students traveled to Navy Pier, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Field Museum, the Adler Planetarium, the Willis Tower and the Magnificent Mile. Host families took students to places like Chinatown, Water Tower Place, local restaurants, churches and more.
