Through a generous grant from the Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation, in conjunction with the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University, a competitive process will award clinicians from Chicago’s sister cities with the opportunity to attend the symposium held in Chicago.
The award recipients will be chosen from a review board led by the Symposium Chair, Dr. William Gradishar, MD (please note that CSCI is not a part of the selection process). Selection will be based on the professional reference letter, the applicant’s demonstrated interest in the field of breast cancer, how well the theme of the symposium complement’s the applicant’s areas of focus, and how the knowledge gained from the symposium will be shared with colleagues. The ideal candidate is an oncologist, early in his or her career (rather than a senior physician), with a focus in breast cancer.
The Lurie Cancer Center will fund the awardees’ symposium registration fee and the majority of travel expenses to attend the 3½ day Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Symposium, including shared hotel accommodations at the symposium venue (5-night maximum) and roundtrip airfare to Chicago. Applicants should not make any travel arrangements until they receive a notification email. Individuals electing to have their own room will be responsible for the additional expense.
The application deadline is July 15, 2016. More information about the symposium and the application can be found at: lynnsagebreastcancer.org/sister_cities.
The symposium, which attracts 800 physicians, is an annual professional educational event providing recent clinical and scientific advances in breast cancer research. The program is an unrivaled opportunity to collaborate with a world renowned cancer center, to meet breast cancer experts from around the world, and to learn about practical patient care strategies and the exciting possibilities of breast cancer research.
