Galway Mayoral Delegation Visits Chicago

The Galway Committee of Chicago Sister Cities International was once again honored to welcome the Spirit of Galway delegation to Chicago from August 14–18, led by Sean Kyne, Minister of State for Gaeltacht Affairs and Natural Resources, and Ms. Avril Horan and Cllr. Noel Larkin, Mayor of Galway City and Mrs. Margaret Larkin.

They were joined by Mr. Keith Finnegan, President of Galway Sister Cities; Michael Connolly, Chairman of Galway County Council and Mrs. Brigid Connolly; Mr. Gerard Mullarkey, Director, Galway County Council and Ms. Dympna Fitzgerald-Kiely; Mr. Frank Kearney and Mrs. Ann Kearney; Ms. Niamh Byrne and Mr. Nicholas Byrne; Mr. Joe O’Neill, Director of Services, Galway City Council, and Ms. Kay O’Neill; Mrs. Joan Finnegan and Ms. Katie Finnegan.

While in Chicago, the delegation met with Chicago Deputy Mayor Steve Koch, toured the Chicago Riverwalk and the 606, conducted a meeting on water challenges with Current, and attended a welcome reception hosted by the Galway Committee of CSCI.

Galway was recently named the European Capital of Culture for 2020.
