Travel and Accommodations
The Summit is an overnight program taking place at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Chicago participants will be paired with international participants in apartment-style dorms at the University of Illinois at Chicago. There will be a Summit coordinator and UIC graduate students on site and in each apartment that will supervise participants. Please note that both Chicago and international girls will stay in the dorms during the Summit.
There is no cost to attend the Summit. Chicago Sister Cities International will fund awardees’ summit registration fee and travel expenses to attend the week-long summit, including dorm accommodations at the University of Illinois at Chicago, roundtrip airfare to Chicago, meals, transportation to and from the Chicago airport and during the summit, travel insurance, and visa fees (if required).
Once international applicants are notified of their acceptance, CSCI will work with the awardees and their families to make plans for travel. In some cases, namely if there is a connecting flight from the home city to Chicago, a chaperone will be required to travel with international participants. Chaperone expenses will also be fully covered by Chicago Sister Cities International.
