Literary Weekend at the Balzekas Museum of Lithuanian Culture

On Saturday, April 11, 2015, at 2 pm, the Women’s Guild of the Balzekas Museum of Lithuanian Culture proudly presents author, attorney Tony Mankus, who’ll read from and discuss his book, Where Do I Belong? An Immigrant’s Quest for Identity. This captivating memoir outlines an emotional quest for identity in the context of the author’s immigrant experience. The event is part of the ongoing series of programs related to the exhibition No Home To Go To: The Story of Baltic Displaced Persons from 1944 to 1952 on view at the Museum through Dec. 31, 2015. Attorney Al Domanskis will moderate the discussion.

Then on Sunday, April 12, 2015, at 2 pm, the Balzekas Museum of Lithuanian Culture, in partnership with Lithuanian Culture Institute and Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to the United States of America, presents the poetry anthology How the Earth Carries Us. New Poets from Lithuania. The anthology contains the work of 26 Lithuanian poets presented with their poetry translated to English and an introduction by Rimas Uzgiris. The event will consist of readings by poets Ilzė Butkutė, Giedrė Kazlauskaitė and Marius Burokas and discussion about the poetry and readings. It will be moderated by anthology translator and editor Rimas Uzgiris.
