MILAN: Chicago Week in Milan
Chicago Sister Cities International (CSCI) and World Business Chicago (WBC) are leading a delegation of Chicago business, civic and cultural leaders on a mission to Chicago’s sister city of Milan, Italy to present “Chicago Week” during Expo Milano 2015 from September 3-6, 2015. Organized by CSCI and WBC, and with the support of the City of Chicago, Chicago Week in Milan is a unique opportunity to showcase the best of Chicago through world-class experiences. Programming partners of Chicago Week include the Illinois Restaurant Association, Hideout Chicago, Kendall College, Pilot Light and Lagunitas Brewing Company. LensCrafters is a major sponsor of Chicago Week events. Sponsors also include Eli’s Cheesecake Company.
As the culminating event of Chicago Week, Chicago’s own JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound will take the stage for a free outdoor concert at La Triennale di Milano at 9:30 pm on Saturday, September 5. Opening for JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound is Ray Band at 8 pm.
Traveling to Milan as part of the delegation are Chef John Coletta of Quartino Ristorante, Chef Jason Hammel of Lula Cafe, and Chef Matthias Merges of Yusho. The three chefs are highlighting Chicago cuisine at a reception celebrating the sister city relationship at Palazzo Marino (Milan’s City Hall). In addition, they are working with famed Italian chef, Chef Gualtiero Marchesi, to present a special luncheon and a fundraiser for Milan’s Pane Quotidiano, based on Chicago’s own Soup and Bread.
As a special highlight celebrating the sister city relationship, Lagunitas Brewery Company has created a special craft beer, Mozango!, to celebrate the strong relationship between Chicago and Milan. Mozango! will be served at events throughout Chicago Week.
